Yuriy Cheban of Ukraine wins Gold in Men’s C-1 200m Canoeing

Yuriy Cheban of Ukraine won the gold medal in the Men’s C-1 200m Canoeing event of RIo 2016 Olympic Games Lagoa Stadium on Thursday, August 18.

Yuriy Cheban finished the race in 39.279 seconds to win the gold medal and defend his men’s 200m canoe sprint title which he won in London Olympics in 2012. In the process he set a new Olympic record.

This is the second gold medal won by Ukraine in Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Valentin Demyanenko of Azerbaijan won the silver medal in the event while bronze medal was won by Brazil’s Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos.
