China’s weightlifter Xiang Yanmei won the gold medal in Women’s 69 kg Weightlifting event of Rio 2016 Olympics on Wednesday.
Xiang Yanmei appeared dazed after the bar hit the back of her head on a failed snatch attempt, but recovered well to take the gold with 116 kgs in the snatch and 145 kgs in the clean and jerk, for an overall score of 261 kilos.
Kazakhstan’s Zhazira Zhapparkul lifted 115 kgs in snatch and 144 kgs in clean and jerk for an overall score of 259 kilos to win the silver medal.
Sara Ahmed of Egypt won the bronze medal lifting 112 kgs in snatch and 143 kgs in clean and jerk for an overall score of 255 kilos.
Xiang Yanmei had previously won world titles in 2013 and 2015.
