The Weightlifting events of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics will be held at the Pavillon 2 of Riocentro from 6 to 16 August 2016.

In the weightlifting event, athletes compete by lifting a steel bar loaded with weights over their heads – the one who lifts the most becomes the winner.

Weightlifting identifies the world’s strongest. Demanding vast amounts of power, technique and determination, this is a sport that pushes the human body to its limits.

The Weightlifting Event made its Olympic debut at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Rio 2016 Summer Olympics Weightlifting Events :

There will be 15 medal event taking place. Men will compete in 8 events while women will compete in 7 events.

Women’s Boxing Event :

Around 260 athletes (156 men and 104 women) are expected to compete in these 15 different weightlifting events of RIo 2016 Summer Olympics.

The qualifications for this Olympic event will get over in June 2016.
