The Water Polo events of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics will be held at the Maria Lenk Aquatic Center in Barra da Tijuca from 6 to 20 August 2016.

Rio 2016 Summer Olympics Water Polo Events :
There will be two medal event namely – Men’s and Women’s Team Event.
Twenty teams (twelve for men and eight for women) will compete in the tournament.
Men’s Team Event : 12 teams will compete for 1 medal event.
Women’s Team Event : 8 teams will compete for 1 medal event.
Qualified Men’s Water Polo Teams : Brazil, Serbia, United States, Croatia, Greece, Australia, Japan, Montenegro, Hungary, Italy, Spain and France.
Qualified Women’s Water Polo Teams : Brazil, Australia, China, Hungary, United States, Italy, Russia and Spain
