Uladzislau Hancharou of Belarus won the gold medal in the Men’s Trampoline Gymnastics event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Saturday.
It is the first time that Belarus has won Olympic gold in individual event in trampoline gymnastics.
The 20-year-old from Belarus outscored the 2012 Olympic champion and 2015 world champion with a score of 61.745 to beat China’s Dong Dong – the 2012 Olympic champion and China’s Gao Lei – the 2015 world champion to win the gold medal.
China’s Dong Dong won the silver medal finishing second with an overall score of 60.535 while his countrymen Gao Lei finished with an overall score 60.175.
With the silver medal, Dong Dong of China joined Canada’s Karen Cockburn on a record three medals in trampoline gymnastics in Olympic history.
