Synchronized swimming pairs from Russia – Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina have won the gold medal in the Duet Synchronized Swimming event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Tuesday, August 16.
Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina successfully defended their 2012 London Olympics Gold with a total of 194.9910 points out-scoring their nearest competitors by 2.6222 points.
Ishchenko and Romashina’s “mermaid” themed routine earned them 98.5333 points while their technical program earned them 96.4577 points.
It is also Russia’s fifth consecutive synchronized swimming duet Olympic gold, winning gold in the event since the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.
China’s Huang Xuechen & Sun Wenyan won the silver medal in th event with 191.4355 points.
Japan’s Yukiko Inui & Risako Mitsui won the bronze medal in the event with a total of 187.5214 points.
