Croatia’s Sime Fantela and Igor Marenic won the gold medal in the Men’s 470 Sailing event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Thursday, August 18, 2016.
The Croatians went into the race with a 10-point lead and were never threatened, with their nearest rivals finishing behind them. They won the gold medal finishing with 43 points after the final race – the lower the points, the better it is.
Australian pair of Mathew Belcher and William Ryan won the silver medal finishing second with a total of 58 points.
Panagiotis Mantis and Pavlos Kagialis of Greece were also at 58 points, but they won the bronze medal as they had finished the final race behind the Australian’s.
