Sharon van Rouwendaal wins Gold in Women’s 10 km Marathon Swimming

Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands won the gold medal in the Women’s 10km marathon swimming event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Monday.

The Dutch swimmer crossed the finishing line off the shore of picturesque Copacabana beach in 1hr 56min 32.1sec to win the gold medal.

Italy’s Rachele Bruni won the silver medal finishing second 17.4sec behind.

Brazil’s Poliana Okimoto won the bronze medal finishing third 19.3 seconds behind the winner.
