The Sailing events of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics will take place from 8 to 18 August 2016 at the Marina da Gloria in Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In the sailing competition, powered only by the wind, athletes must sail their boats around a course marked out by buoys. In order to succeed in this event, competitors must adapt to the climatic and sailing conditions.

The sport of Sailing made its Olympic debut at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.
