Ryan Crouser of United States won the gold medal in the Men’s Shot Put event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Thursday, August 18 at the Olympic Stadium.

Ryan Crouser, who was already leading with a third attempt throw of 22.26 metres, broke the Olympic record with a fifth attempt throw of 22.52 metres to break previous record of 22.47 metres set by Ulf Timmermann of East Germany (Now Germany) at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul.

Joe Kovacs of United States won the silver medal in the event with a best throw of 21.78 metres.

Tomas Walsh of New Zealand won the bronze medal in the event with a best throw of 21.36 metres.
