Russia wins Gold in Women’s Team Synchronized Swimming

Russia has won the gold medal in the Women’s Team Synchronized Swimming event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Friday, August 20.

For the fifth consecutive Olympics, a team from Russia won the team synchronized swimming gold medals.

The Russian team of Vlada Chigireva, Natalia Ishchenko, Svetlana Kolesnichenko, Aleksandra Patskevich, Elena Prokofyeva, Svetlana Romashina, Alla Shishkina, Mariia Shurochkina and Gelena Topilina won the gold medal with a score of 196.1439. The got 99.1333 points for their “Angels” themed free routine and 97.0106 points as the technical routine score.

China’s team consisting of Huang Xuechen, Sun Wenyan, Guo Li, Gu Xiao, Tang Mengni, Li Xiaolu, Zeng Zhen, Liang Xinping and Yin Chengxin performed “Finding Dragon” free routine to secure a second-consecutive silver medal in the team event. They score 97.3667 for this routine and their technical routine score was 95.6174, taking their total score to 192.9841 points.

Japan’s team consisting of Hakoyama Aika, Inui Yukiko, Marumo Kei, Mitsui Risako, Nakamaki Kanami, Nakamura Mai, Omata Kano, Yoshida Kurumi and Hayashi Aiko won the bronze medal in the event getting 95.4333 points for their original music free routine and their technical routine score was 93.7723, taking their total score to 189.2056.
