Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Nurudinov won the gold medal in Men’s 105 kg Weightlifting event of Rio 2016 Olympics on Monday.
Ruslan Nurudinov lifted 194 kgs in the snatch and 237 kgs in the clean and jerk, for an overall score of 431 kilos, well ahead of others to win the gold medal and in the process he set a new Olympic record for the clean and jerk lift, breaking the previous record of 236 kgs set by Andrei Aramnau of Belarus in Beijing Olympics in 2008.
Simon Martirosyan of Armenia, the next best contestant, won the silver medal lifting 190 kgs in snatch and 227 kgs in clean and jerk for an overall score of 417 kilos, 14 kgs behind the gold medal winner.
Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Zaychikov won the bronze medal lifting 193 kgs in snatch and 223 kgs in clean and jerk for an overall score of 416 kilos.
