Azerbaijan’s Radik Isayev won the gold medal in the Men’s +80 kg Taekwondo event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Saturday, August 20.
Radik Isayev defeated Niger’s Abdoul Issoufou in the final of the heavyweight taekwondo event 6 – 2 to win the gold medal.
Abdoul Issoufou won the silver medal in the event. He became the second athlete ever to have won an Olympic Medal for Niger. Their first ever Olympic medal came at the 1972 Munich Olympics – a bronze medal.
Bronze medals of the event were won by Brazil’s Maicon Siqueira and South Korea’s Cha Dong-min who defeated Great Britains’s Mahama Cho and Uzbekistan’s Dmitriy Shokin in their respective bronze medal matches.
