Michelle Carter of United States won the gold medal in the Women’s Shot Put event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Friday.
Michelle Carter, the 2016 world indoor champion, broke her own American Record on her sixth and final throw with a heave of 67 feet, 8.25 inches (20.63 meters) to defeat two-time Olympic gold medalist Valerie Adams of New Zealand to win the gold medal.
Valerie Adams of New Zealand managed to win silver medal with best heave of 20.42 meters.
Hungary’s Anita Marton came in third to win the bronze medal with best throw of 19.87 meters.
With this gold, Carters became the first father-daughter combination from Team USA to win medals at the Games. 32 year ago, her father Michael Carter won the silver medal in the same event at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games.
