The Olympic flame of Rio 2016 will travel over 12,500 miles (20,000 km) by road, 10,000 miles (16,000 km) by air, and carried by around 12,000 people during its 95-day Brazil journey which starts on 3rd May 2016.
There will be around 12,000 torchbearers carrying the flame along.

According to media reports, the Olympic flame will visit every state in giant country, reaching 90% of population, before lighting cauldron at Maracanã Stadium.
The flame will be officially lit in Olympia, Greece, on April 21, it will travel to Brasilia on May 3, 2016.
Recently, the Rio 2016 Organising Committee has announced the first 83 cities that will experience the excitement of the Olympic Torch Relay ahead of next year’s Olympic Games.
The 83 cities were chosen so that the route could reach as much of the Brazilian population as possible during the course of the relay, which will conclude on 5 August 2016, when the last torchbearer will light the Olympic Cauldron during the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony, at the Maracana Stadium.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Torch Relay convoy is expected to visit 500 cities and towns – some 300 hosting the Olympic Torch Relay and a further 200 cheering the convoy as it passes by with the flame on display.

Central West States : DISTRITO FEDERAL, GOIÁS, MATO GROSSO, MATO GROSSO DO SUL
South East States : ESPÍRITO SANTO, MINAS GERAIS, RIO DE JANEIRO, SÃO PAULO
South States : PARANÁ, RIO GRANDE DO SUL, SANTA CATARINA
