Jeff Henderson of the United States won the gold medal in the Men’s Long Jump event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Saturday.
With his final attempt of 8.38m, Jeff Henderson of the United States snatched the gold medal from Luvo Manyonga of South Africa and Greg Rutherford of Great Britain. This was his seasons best performance.
Luvo Manyonga of South Africa won the silver medla finishing second with a jump of 8.37m. His first ever Olympic medal.
Britain’s Greg Rutherford who had won Gold in London 2012 Olympic Games with a jump of 8.31m could not go beyond 8.29m and had to settle for bronze medal.
“I never thought in my career I’d be disappointed with a bronze medal but I’m gutted,” the 29-year-old told reporters, tears streaming down his face.
“I came here to win. I’m going away disappointed.”
