Hoàng Xuân Vinh recorded his name in record books by becoming the first Vietnamese to ever win a Olympic Gold Medal.
Vietnam’s Hoang Xuan Vinh outlasts Brazil’s Felipe Almeida Wu to earn gold in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol Shooting Event of the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
Hoang Xuan Vinh finished ahead of Brazil’s Felipe Almeida who was leading until a brilliant final shot by Vinh. In fact Hoang Xuan Vinh created a new Olympic Record with a score of 202.5 in the final round. Brazil’s Felipe Almeida ended with a score of 202.1.
The bronze medal was won by China’s Pang Wei.
Jitu Rai from India finished last with a score of 78.7 in the final round, shattering Indian medal hopes.
Vietnam has been competing at the Olympic Games more than 60 years ago, but had never won a gold medal before.
