Italian swimmer Gregorio Paltrinieri won the gold medal in the Men’s 1500 m Freestyle Swimming event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Saturday after dominating throughout the race.
Gregorio Paltrinieri finished the longest event in the pool with a time of 14:34.57 way ahead of others, winning by a margin of 4.91 seconds.
Connor Jaeger of United States came in second to take the slver medal with a time of 14:39.48 to set a new national record.
Italy’s Gabriele Detti won the bronze medal after going past Jordan Wilimovsky of the US in the closing stages of the race. he clocked a time of 14:40.86.
