Great Britain wins Gold in Women’s Team Pursuit Cycling

Great Britain won gold medal in the Women’s Team Pursuit Cycling event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Saturday setting a new world record.

Team of Katie Archibald, Elinor Barker, Joanna Rowsell-Shand and Laura Trott, set world records in all three rounds of the competition and blitzed the U.S. in the final by more than two seconds a time 4:10.23 to set a new Olympic record.

Team USA consisting of Sarah Hammer, Kelly Catlin, Chloe Dygert and Jennifer Valente settled for silver medal with a time of 4:12.45.

Team Canada consisting of Allison Beveridge, Jasmin Glaesser, Kirsti Lay, Georgia Simmerling and Laura Brown defeated New Zealand to win the bronze medal in the bronze medal race.
