Gong Jinjie, Zhong Tianshi of China wins Gold in Women’s Team Sprint Cycling

China’s Gong Jinjie and Zhong Tianshi set World Record in Women’s Team Sprint Cycling event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games to win the Gold medal on Friday at the Olympic velodrome.

Gong Jinjie and Zhong Tianshi clocked a time of 32.107 seconds to beat Russia’s Daria Shmeleva and Anastasia Voynova, who won the silver medal with a time of 32.401 seconds.

In the bronze medal match, Germany’s Kristina Vogel and Miriam Welte beat Australia’s Anna Meares and Stephanie Morton by a narow margin of 0.022 seconds clocking a time of 32.636 seconds.

During the first round of the event, Gong Jinjie and Zhong Tianshi clocked a time of 31.928 to broke their own world record of 32.034 which they had set in February 2015 during 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.
