Barbara Engleder of Germany on Thursday won the gold medal in the Women’s 50m Rifle Three Positions Shooting event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Barbara Engleder won her first ever Olympic Gold scoring 458.6 points. She leading all the way but eventually won by a very small margin of 0.2 after a poor last shot where she scored 9.0
China’s Zhang Binbin won the silver medal with a score of 458.4, despite scoring a superb 10.4 in her last shot.
Engleder, who finished sixth in the event in the London 2012 Games, dropped down to her knees and screamed with excitement to the crowd after she realized that she had won gold.
She became second German to win gold in the discipline ever.
Du Li of China won the bronze medal with a score of 447.4.
