There are a total of 10 medal events (Epee – 4, Foil – 3, Sabre – 3).

In Fencing, two fencers play a combat match against each other with an aim to land blows on the opponent’s target area body with a blunt-ended blade weapon as many times as possible during a match.

The three different weapons used in modern day fencing are Epee, Foil and Sabre.

The Fencing Event made its Olympic debut at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.
