Dilshod Nazarov of Tajikistan won the gold medal in the Men’s Hammer Throw event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Friday, August 19 at the Olympic Stadium in Rio.
Dilshod Nazarov won the first ever Gold medal for his country with a throw of 78.68 metres beating the best best contestant by a margin of nearly 1 metre.
In his fifth of six throws, he launched the 16-pound ball and chain 78.68 meters away to win this historic medal for his country.
Ivan Tsikhan of Belarus won the silver medal with the best throw of 77.79 metres.
Wojciech Nowicki of Poland won the bronze medal in the event with a best throw of 77.73 metres.
United States failed to qualify for the finals.
