Deng Wei of China wins Gold in Women’s 63 kg Weightlifting

In the Women’s 63 kg Weightlifting event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games, China’s Deng Wei set a new world record to win the gold medal.

Deng Wei lifted 115 kilos in snatch and 147 in clean and jerk for an overall score of 262 kilos to win the gold and in the process she broke two world records.

Deng Wei broke the previous best total score of 261 kgs set by Lin Tzu-chi of Chinese Taipei in 2014 and also broke her own world record by 1 kilo in the clean and jerk lift.

Choe Hyo-sim of North Korea won silver medal finishing second with an overall score of 248 kgs lifting 105 kilos in snatch and 143 kgs in clean and jerk.

Karina Goricheva of Kazakhstan won the bronze medal finishing third with an overall score of 243 kgs lifting 111 kilos in snatch and 132 kgs in clean and jerk.
