Great Britain’s Chris Mears, Jack Laugher won the gold medal with a total of 454.32 points to spoil China’s plan of total domination in Olympic diving, having won all the three events that took place earlier at Rio 2016.

Team USA’s Sam Dorman and Michael Hixon took the silver medal with a score of 450.21 points while China’s Cao Yuan and Qin Kai had to settle for the Bronze medal with a score of 443.70.

Having won 32 of the previous 34 Olympic gold medals on offer in diving, China would be really disappointed not being able to win the gold this time around.

Americans divers gave the event a dramatic late twist when they scored the best score of the night – 98.04 to move into top slot after their final dive, but it was not enough to keep the Britons away from the gold.
