Chloe Esposito of Australia wins Gold in Women’s Modern Pentathlon

Australia’s Chloe Esposito won the gold medal in the Women’s Modern Pentathlon event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Friday, August 19.

Chloe Esposito won the gold medal with a total of 1372 points to set a new Olympic record after five different events: Fencing, 200m Freestyle Swimming, Show Jumping, and a Final combined event of Pistol Shooting and a 3200m Cross-country.

It is surely a surprise victory for her after she had entered the last leg of the classic Olympic sport, following the fencing, swimming and horse-riding components, in seventh place overall and having to give the frontrunner, Oktawia Nowacka of Poland, a 45-second head start.

Élodie Clouvel of France won the silver medal in the event with a total score of 1356 points.

Oktawia Nowacka of Poland won the bronze medal in the event with a total score of 1349 points.
