China’s Liu Hong won the gold medal in the Women’s 20 km Walk event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Friday, August 20.
Liu Hong won the gold medal finishing the walk with a time of 1:28.35.
Mexico’s María Guadalupe González won the silver medal finishing the walk second with a time of 1:28:37.
Another Chinese athlete, Lü Xiuzhi finished the race third to win the bronze medal with a time of 1:28:42.
The racewalking event is competed as a road race. Athletes must always keep in contact with the ground and the supporting leg must remain straight until the raised leg passes it.
