Australia wins Gold in Women’s Rugby Sevens Tournament

Australia’s Rugby Sevens women’s team beat New Zealand in the finals of the rugby sevens tournament of Rio 2016 Olympic Games to win the gold medal.

This is the first time that Rugby Sevens is part of the Olympic Games.

Australia won the gold medal defeating New Zealand 24 – 17 in the finals at the Deodoro Stadium on Monday.

Kiwi’s had a good start to the game, but Australia made a good comeback from behind and then had an unassailable lead.

In the bronze medal match, Canada beat Great Britain in a one-sided match with a score of 33 – 10 to win the bronze medal.
