Hungary’s Aron Szilagyi won the gold medal in the Men’s Sabre Fencing event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games defeating Team USA fencer Daryl Homer in the gold medal match.
Daryl Homer of USA had to settle for the silver medal after convincingly losing to Aron Szilagyi with a score of 15 – 8 in the finals.
Hungary’s Aron Szilagyi was the defending gold medal winner, having won the same event at London Olympics in 2012.
South Korea’s Kim Jung-hwan won the bronze medal defeating Mojtaba Abedini of Iran in the bronze medal match with a score of 15 – 8.
Rio 2016 marks the third Olympic appearance of Aron Szilagyi who in the last seven years, has ranked among the top seven fencers in the world and has placed in the top ten at the World Championships the past five years.
