Alistair Brownlee of Great Britain won the gold medal in the Men’s Triathlon event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Thursday, August 18.

Alistair Brownlee has become the first person to successfully defend his Olympic triathlon title, which he had won in London Olympics in 2012.

Alistair Brownlee finished the triathlon race of 1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run in 1 hour 45 minutes and 1 second to win the gold medal.

His younger brother, Jonathan Brownlee won the silver medal in the event finishing second, six seconds behind.

South Africa’s Henri Schoeman finished the race third with a time of 1:45:43 to win the bronze medal.
